Candidate for Chairwoman
Sandy grew up in central Louisiana and attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana where she earned a B.S. in Computer Information Systems. She started her career in Dallas as a software engineer in the defense industry working on intelligence satellite software and in the telecommunications industry designing operator services software before moving to Cary, North Carolina with her husband Tom. Sandy is a Christian, a proud mom of 3 sons and a life-long dedicated Republican.
Sandy began her career in politics by successfully fighting a school reassignment plan that negatively affected her sons. She then volunteered as a campaign consultant for the school board, Cary Town Council and state representative campaigns over the next 20 years. As a community advocate Sandy successfully fought the US Government when it tried to place an ICE detention facility adjacent to her neighborhood and challenged a new toxic math curriculum implemented by the Wake County School Board. In 2020 she served as campaign manager for a candidate who won her election to the Wake County School Board overwhelmingly defeating a 19-year incumbent.
As President of the Western Wake Republican Club since August 2022, Sandy and her team successfully grew attendance by over 60% and membership by 92% to over 270 members. Other accomplishments include implementing postcard writing campaigns for new Republicans, enhancing the club social media and website presence and teaching workshops for club presidents. Under her leadership, Sandy and her team organized the club’s first ever Disco Dance and Silent Auction Fundraiser which raised funds for the club, most of which was donated to candidates.
For the 2022 and 2024 election cycles, Sandy organized events for Senator Ted Budd and Allen West and coordinated multiple candidate fundraisers. The Western Wake Republican Club cosponsored many Get Out The Vote events with Trump Force 47, Turning Point Action and My Faith Votes. The club held numerous candidate forums including ones for the 13th Congressional District, school board candidates, judicial candidates and municipal candidates to give attendees the opportunity to hear about the wide variety of issues facing Wake County and North Carolina.
Most importantly, Sandy is passionate about promoting conservatism in Wake County and helping Republican candidates get elected. These candidates are sacrificing their time and resources to run for important positions in Wake County and across North Carolina and they deserve a Wake County GOP that will stand beside them giving each one the best support possible.
